Many people in this world have dreams, but not many have the inspiration to chase them. Some people wish to be famous actors, successful doctors, corporation owners, or even the president of the United States. Mine is to be a Mixed Martial Arts fighter for the UFC, a dream that has been inspired by events that have occurred since childhood. When I was a kid I was always getting into fights. My parents were very overprotective and wouldn’t let me do much in the way of living a normal kid’s life. This occurred for mostly all of my childhood until my teenage years. I was not used to how a lot of other kids acted and took things that happened way out of proportion.
My first account of inspiration was when a person that I was close to in my life died. Seeing a person that you know in a state of extreme pain and then death can change anyone’s life in an instant. At the time of this event I was ten years old and didn’t understand much of what was going on. But I was mature enough to know that a person I looked up to was dead, this was my first realization of what life is capable of. When this happened I decided that I wanted to do something with my life no matter what it was. I wanted to be memorable and to be recognized for my time here on this Earth.
My second account of inspiration was when I got arrested by the police. I was thirteen years old at the time and was caught fighting in a parking lot in my town. The officer that arrested me charged me with assault and harassment along with a hefty fine totaling at about one thousand dollars. About a day later I received a letter for the date of my hearing and it was the first time I had to go in front of a judge. The day of the hearing the judge asked us questions about the day of the fight and why we did it. We answered honestly and the judge let us off the hook with a warning and dropped all the charges. After this event I realized something needed to be done in order to prevent this from happening again.
So this lead to my third account of inspiration, after the encounter with the law I decided a change needed to be made. About a year before this I was learning the martial art of Tae Kwon Do but quit. So I made the choice to start back up again due to my anger and lack of discipline, and I do not regret the decision. After enrolling back into the program my life started to change for the better, my grades improved dramatically in school, I began to learn how to respect myself and others, and learned how to defend myself in the process. After being in martial arts for over four years I have discovered what I want to do with my life. I have been inspired through my training to become a mixed martial arts fighter and I believe I have been put here for this one purpose. After all of these different accounts of inspiration I am now determined to chase the dream.
