Description:
My name is Pabeli. I am fifteen years old. I was born in Congo. Begins French I was born in Brazzaville, Congo. I grew up in Kinshasa. I arrived here in 2013. I do not have citizenship here yet. When you are here, you cannot go back to your country – to Congo-Brazzaville. You have to get citizenship. In RDC (Democratic Republic of Congo), in Kinshasa, in RDC Mbanza-Ngungu, there is a city (where he grew up). We wanted to move to California. AJAPO said that people come here. This is why we came here. In Congo I didn’t like English because I didn’t know if I was coming to the United States. Here you always have to speak English. You think English is easy for you. For me, it’s a little difficult. Also I don’t know very, very good French. I speak three languages. French, a little. I speak our language. I also speak Lingala. (He then says “qui Lari”, Lari is the name of “our language”.) I say in Lari, “bien kua twe”. In French, “I’m fine.”
