Volunteering

Tags: Civic Responsibility, Community, Volunteerism

My latest idea is to make kids do some volunteering each school year. Maybe teachers could introduce volunteering and different types for the kids to do, like at a library or animal shelter. It would help teachers to understand kids more, and children would learn how to interact with different people. They would figure out what they like doing, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and improve themselves. From elementary school, teachers would promote the idea of volunteering, and from 3rd or 4th grade, ask the kids to go volunteer with their parents in communities so they know what they like. In middle school or high school, kids could get extra credit by volunteering or make it a requirement for two hours of volunteering a month or every 2 months. Thank you for listening!
